In this article, you will be able to be answered those questions
How many skin types are there?
What are the characteristics of each type?
How to give proper care to each type?
What products should I use for my skin?
Let's get started...
There are five main skin types: normal, oily, dry, combination, and sensitive. Here is a brief overview of each skin type and how to care for them:
Normal skin: Normal skin is well-balanced, with no extreme oiliness or dryness. It should feel smooth, with no visible pores, flakiness, or irritation.
Care tips: To care for normal skin, it is important to maintain a regular skincare routine that includes cleansing, exfoliating (once a week), toning, and moisturizing. It is also important to use sunscreen to protect the skin from damaging UV rays.
Oily skin: Oily skin is characterized by excess oil production, which can lead to clogged pores and acne breakouts. If you have oily skin you will see those common signs: shiny and greasy, with enlarged pores.
Care tips: To care for oily skin, it is important to use oil-free, non-comedogenic skincare products that will not clog pores. It is also important to use a gentle cleanser and avoid over-exfoliating, as this can strip the skin of its natural oils and lead to even more oil production. Another advanced tip is to use facial masks that contain kaolin, charcoal, and clay once a week. They will really help to clean your pores and absorb excess oil and impurities.
Dry skin: Dry skin lacks moisture and can feel tight and uncomfortable. You will often notice flakiness, itching, and a feeling of tightness. It may also be prone to redness and irritation.
Care tips: To care for dry skin, it is important to use a moisturizer that is formulated for dry skin, and to avoid harsh soaps and hot water, which can strip the skin of its natural oils. It is also a good idea to use a humidifier to add moisture to the air and to drink plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated from the inside out.
Combination skin = normal + oily + dry skin: A combination skin is characterized by different areas of the face having different skin types. For example, the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) may be oily, while the cheeks may be dry.
Care tips: To care for combination skin, it is important to use different products on different areas of the face to address the specific needs of each area. For example, an oil-free moisturizer may be used on oily areas, while a richer moisturizer may be used on dry areas.
Sensitive skin: Sensitive skin is prone to irritation, redness, and allergic reactions. In addition, if you have sensitive skin you will find it is super sensitive to any changes in external factors such as weather, environment, new skincare products, etc.
Care tips: To care for sensitive skin, it is important to use gentle, hypoallergenic skincare products that are free of fragrances, dyes, and other potentially irritating ingredients. It is also important to conduct patch tests with new skincare products before applying them to your skin, avoid using hot water, and be careful when exfoliating, as these can be irritating to sensitive skin.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
In general, it is important to know that every person's skin is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. It is a good idea to pay attention to your skin and to figure out what works best for you through trial and error. However, please keep in mind that healthy-looking skin needs proper care. Remember to stick to the basic skincare checklist below:
Clean your skin twice a day
Exfoliate it at least once a week
Use suitable skincare toners/ serums/ treatments
Moisturize it at least twice a day (day & night)
Wear SPF 30+ every day (most important to prevent your skin from UV rays damage)
